Ping test - ISP troubleshooting guide
There are two types of ping test that you can run:

1. Ping the Internal IP Address:
- From your desktop, click Start -> Run and type "command" and press enter
- The command prompt would appear.
- Type "ping <xxx.xxx.xxx.x>" and press enter. ("x" is the IP address provided by your ISP or router IP address)
- If you get a reply saying "Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.x: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128" it means your internet works
- If you get a reply saying "Request timed out", you need to:
- Double check your network card.
- You might also want to try it out on a different computer.
- From your desktop, click Start -> Run and type "command" and press enter
- The command prompt would appear.
- Type "ping <xxx.xxx.xxx.x>" and press enter. ("x" is the external IP address of any website) or
- Type "ping <www.example.com>" and press enter. (this could be any website address)
- If you get a reply saying "Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.x: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128" it means your internet works
- If you get a reply saying "Request timed out", you need to:
- Switch off your modem and router. Plug them back in. Wait for a couple of minutes.
- Shutdown and Restart your computer.
- Check your DNS entries again.
- Try using the same DNS IP address that your ISP is using.
- Switch off your modem and router. Plug them back in. Wait for a couple of minutes.
- If you get a reply saying "Reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.x: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=128" it means your internet works
