Reset your modem and router (if any) - ISP troubleshooting guide

Resetting your Modem and Router (if any) might resolve the problem:

Lets try and see whether you have equipment related problems.  In this step, we will allow the equipment to self-diagnose and resolve the problems.

If you suddenly lose connectivity over your High Speed Internet line, have a slow connection or are unable to browse the Internet despite indications that you are connected, it is possible that your modem is not communicating properly with the Internet network.

  1. Save all your current work, close all open applications, then shut down your computer. Wait for a minute.
  2. If you have a router, turn it off first and wait for a couple of minutes.
  3. Turn off your modem.
  4. Disconnect all the ethernet cables that are connected to the router and modem and the PC.
  5. Reconnect them and ensure that there are no loose connections in between them.
  6. Now, restart your PC.
  7. Switch on the modem first and after it gets initialized, switch on the router.

The above steps should ideally take care of your problem and now, you should be up and running.  If you still have trouble accessing the internet, check the lights on both modem and router. Understanding what the modem and router status lights indicate can help you identify and resolve internet connection issues. (Refer the router and modem manual for understanding the behavior of the lights).

Did the above work?
