How to prevent Junk E-Mail messages with outlook 2003

Outlook 2003 is designed to function in such a way that it filters out most of the Junk emails that you receive.  Following are the features that are added to the Outlook 2003 for better control on the email messages you receive.

  1. Junk E-Mail Filter.
  2. Safe Senders List.
  3. Blocked Senders List.
  4. Safe Recipients List.
  5. AutoUpdate.

1. Junk E-Mail Filter:

The technology that is used in Outlook 2003 to judge whether the message should be treated as a junk e-mail message based on several factors.   It can be filtered on the basis of:

  • The time the message was sent.
  • The content and structure of the message.
  • The filter does not single out any particular sender or type of e-mail message.
  • Built-in advanced analysis program to determine how likely it is to be thought by you as a junk e-mail message.

By default, this filter is set to a low just to catch only obvious junk emails.  These emails are moved to a separate Junk E-mail folder where you can still access them.  You can also make changes and configure this filter to be more aggressive.  Click here to learn more about Junk E-Mail Filter.

2. Safe Senders List:

If an important e-mail message is erroneously marked as a junk e-mail message by the filter, you can easily add the email address of that sender to your Safe Senders List. The E-mail addresses and domain names on the Safe Senders List are never treated as junk e-mail messages.  You can configure Outlook 2003 to accept only messages from the Safe Senders List, giving you total control over which messages you receive.

3. Blocked Senders List:

E-mail messages from a certain e-mail address or domain name can be blocked by adding those email addresses to your Blocked Senders List.  These messages would be always treated as junk e-mail messages, regardless of the content of the message.  You can do this to those unnecessary emails which comes to you as spam.

4. Safe Recipients Lists:

A list of email addresses can be added as a group to your Safe Recipients Lists.  Any messages sent or received to these e-mail address list will not be considered as junk e-mail messages, regardless of the sender or content of the message.

5. AutoUpdate: You can update your Junk E-Mail Filter periodically with latest methods of blocking the unwanted e-mails.
