System Requirements for Migration Process - Microsoft Vista Migration Guide

The articles gives you the Minimum system requirements for Vista Installation

 
The Hardware system requirements might change before Vista's official release.  But, the present requirement as per Microsoft is as follows:

Processor:
  • PC with 1 GHz or higher processor clock speed.
  • Minimum of 300 MHz speed required (single or dual processor system).
  • Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor.

RAM:
  • 512 megabytes (MB) or 1 Gigabytes (GB) of RAM or higher.

Hard Disk:
  • Minimum of 20-gigabyte (GB) hard disk and should have 15 GB of free hard disk space.
Video Memory:
  • Video adapter capable of supporting the Windows Server "Longhorn" Display Driver Model (LDDM) drivers used in Windows Vista.
  • Windows Aero-capable graphics card.
  • DirectX 9-class graphics card.
  • 32 MB of graphics memory.

External Devices:

  • Internal or external DVD drive.
  • Internet access capability.
  • Audio output capability.
