Error code: 0x00000002 Windows could not load device compatibility data.
While trying to install Vista, you run the set up program from the mapped drive and then you get an error code 0x00000002! Read this article to know what to do if you are faced with this problem.
You are trying to install Windows Vista in your computer. Sometimes in a situation like you are using Net Use command to map a network drive to the sources folder. Then, you run the setup program from the mapped drive to install windows Vista. In this case you might get the following error message: -
"Windows could not load device compatibility data. Error code: 0x00000002"

Let me explain why does it happen first of all. This issue occurs if the Setup program cannot access files and folders that are located outside the Sources folder. The Setup program requires access to these files and folders to successfully complete the installation.
Now let me tell you how to resolve it. You can perform any of the following ways –
