I cannot receive my emails in Windows Mail

There could be various possibilities, when you are not receiving emails in Windows Mail while using Windows Vista. Read this article to know how to solve the issues.

There are many reasons or possibilities when you are not receiving email in your Windows Mail while using Windows Vista. Lets discuss it one by one:

First Possibility:-

First of all we need to check if our Internet connection is working properly. To check that you can open a browser and try to open a page like www.zolved.com. In case you are not able to open it that means your Internet connection is not working and you will have to contact your Internet Service Provider for resolving the issue.

Second Possibility:-

There might be some problem with email account information too. To verify the account information, please follow the steps: -
  • Lets open Windows Mail and locate the account information you were given by your email service provider
  • Click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.

  • Under Mail, click your email account, and then click Properties.

  • Click the Servers tab. Check that the various entries under Server Information and Incoming Mail Server match the account information from your email provider.

If all of the information was already correct, your password authentication settings may be incorrect. Select the Log on using Secure Password Authentication check box, or, if the check box is already selected, clear it.
  • After making changes, click OK, and then click Close to close the Internet Accounts dialog box.
  • Click Send/Receive to try to retrieve your email again.
Third Possibility:-
If the two above check out okay and still you are not able to receive the emails, you may need to set Windows Mail to use a secure connection to your email server. Please follow the below steps: -
  • Open Windows Mail, then Tools and then Accounts

  • Under Mail, click your email account, and then click Properties.

  • Click the Advanced tab.
    • If you're having problems receiving email, under Incoming mail, select the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.
    • If you're having problems sending email, under Outgoing mail, select the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.

If it prompts you to change the port number for the secure connection, enter the port numbers provided by the email provider for incoming mailbox and outgoing mailbox.

  • Once you make the changes, click OK, and then click Close to close the Internet Accounts dialog box.
  • Click Send/Receive to try to retrieve your email again.

Fourth Possibility: -

If you are working through office or a company, the office firewall might block access to your email provider. Please check with your office network administrator, who can help you in this scenario.
