I have a file and exclamation point iPod. When I go to the Ipod Updater file and try to Restore or Update, I get "Ipod Service Error"
Here a solution to that problem.
Before you start, back up your iTunes files.
Remove iTunes
Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, select iTunes and click Change/Remove. Click Next and the OK. When prompted, select Yes, I Want To Restart My Computer Now and click the Finish button.
Delete folders
Double-click My Computer, then C:, then Program Files. Right-click over the iTunes folder and select Delete. Do the same for the iPod folder. Now right-click over your Recycle Bin and select Empty Recycle Bin. Restart your computer.
Install iTunes
Double-click My Computer, then C:. From the menu bar click Tools, then Folder Options. From the View tab, check Show hidden files and folders. Now click through to this C: > Documents and Settings > your username > Local Settings (the address bar will show this: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings). Right-click over the Temp folder and select Delete. Download the latest version of iTunes and run the iTunesSetup.exe. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Still getting "iPod Service Error"?
Click the Start button, then Run. Type msconfig and click OK.
"iPod Service Error" still there? Lastly...

Click the Action menu and then Properties. Click the Stop button in the dialog box. Close Computer Management. Click the Start button, select Run and type “C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe” /service (include the quotation marks). Click OK. Restart the computer.
