Windows Vista has an enhanced command prompt

Just a few clicks away and the enhanced command prompt in Windows Vista can easily be used as a shortcut to run as an administrator.

With the new User Account Control, you get more enhanced command prompt, you can add it as a shortcut and run as an administrator.
  1. Click on Start and type in cmd.
  2. Now right click on cmd short cut and select pin to start menu.
  3. Click on Start again and now right click the command prompt shortcut, which you have just added to the start menu and select properties.
    You will see an Advanced button
  4. Click to select the Run as an administrator check box.
  5. Just click on OK to save your changes.
