I can't play songs on my iPod when it is charging.
When connected to iTunes, the iPod's buttons are disabled. Here's what to do in order to listen to the music anyway.
There are several ways to listen to the songs on the iPod while it is connected to iTunes. Which one is best for you depends on which way you currently use the iPod.
Note: When connected to a wall charger, you can listen to songs and use the iPod normally.
- Play music through iTunes - Select the iPod in the Source menu and select the Music tab. Here you can play your songs through your computer's speakers or with headphones connected to the computer's Audio Out jack.
- Set iPod to "Manually manage.." - Select the iPod in the Source menu and select the Summary tab. You'll find the option to "Manually manage music..." Your iPod should work now.
- Eject, but leave connected - If you eject the iPod from iTunes, the "Do not disconnect" screen will go away. It will continue to charge and you can use it to listen to music (if this doesn't work, please leave a comment to this article and mention which iPod model you have).
