Check your Internet Explorer's connection settings. If your ISP does not use proxy server, ensure the server settings are not checked in IE. Do the following to check this:
- Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.

- Double-click Internet Options.

- Click Connections tab, click LAN Settings. (DSL and cable users need to click on Settings button)

- Ensure that Use a Proxy Server check box is unchecked.

- If you are using dial-up connection, use an alternative phone number for your ISP and try again.
