This article explains how to configure your Yahoo mail account with the Mozilla Thunderbird

Thunderbird is a fast and safe email program with very nice spam filters, quick message search and customizable views. So if you want to take the full advantage of it you can configure your free Yahoo Mail account to your Thunderbird by following the few simple steps.

  1. First of all you need to download Thunderbird by clicking here – Mozilla Thunderbird.
  2. Once the download is over you will get the icon on the desktop. Double click on it.

  3. Click on Create a New Account.

  4. Select Email Account and click on Next.


  5. Type in your Display name and Yahoo mail ID in this screen.

  6. Now select POP and type in pop.mail.yahoo.com in incoming server and smtp.mail.yahoo.com in the outgoing server and click on Next.


  7. Type in your Yahoo Mail ID in Incoming user name and Outgoing user name and click on Next.

  8. You can see your mail ID already displayed in the account name screen. Click on Next.

  9. Now click on Finish on the screen.

  10. It will ask you for a password. Type in your password and click on OK.



There you go!!! The Thunderbird is all set up for you.

    This DOES NOT work with the free yahoo, only with the 20-DOLLAR "mail plus". It just give an "invalid user ID" error message when trying to do it.
    If I'm doing something wrong, I'd love to know, but else it seems like you are spreading misinformation, maybe unintentionally because mommy pays your email bill..

      OOps, I'd like to apologize for sending that before editing it for (un)politeness...But, the first sentence sill applies...I've been trying to find a way to run T-bird, preferably with my yahoo acct., without having to pay for yet another web-based application.
