How to replace the Apple Remote battery

When the Apple Remote's battery power is low, you will see an icon on your iMac display letting you know that you should replace the battery. When that time comes, here's how to replace the battery in your remote:

The Apple Remote Control can be used with an iPod Universal Dock and Apple TV. It also included with MacBook Pro, MacBook, and newer iMac and Mac mini computers.

The Apple Remote uses a CR2032 lithium 3.0 V coin battery that is commonly used in small electronic devices. You'll find these batteries at most electronics stores, drug stores, and at Radio Shack.

When the Apple Remote's battery power is low, you will see an icon on your iMac display letting you know that you should replace the battery. When that time comes, here's how to replace the battery in your remote:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the Apple Remote.
  2. Using a paper clip or other small, blunt object, press the battery compartment release button and then slide out the battery tray.
  3. Remove the old battery and put the new battery in, making sure that the battery's positive side is facing up:

  4. Slide the battery tray back into the Apple Remote until it clicks.
