How do I configure my Apple TV

Initial configuration of my Apple TV

This guide gives you steps on setting up your Apple TV.

Apple TV is a set-top box manufactured by Apple.  It is enabled to stream digital content through wireless network from any computer running Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows running iTunes onto an enhanced-definition or high-definition widescreen television.   Apple TV also works on standard 480i resolution television.

After you connect your TV to the Apple TV, you need to configure it to start using it.  The following are the steps to configure:

Important:  You need to have your Apple remote control handy to navigate and configure the Apple TV device.  Ensure that there is nothing placed in between your remote control and the device.

1. Connecting to the Wireless Network
:

Connecting to your wireless network is very easy.  Use you Apple remote to do the following:

  1. Select your network from the list, or enter the network name.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Enter your IP address, subnet mask, router, and DNS address if you are manually configuring it.
After you do this, your TV displays a 5 digit code.  You need to enter this code in iTunes for both to get synced.

Important: If you connect to a wired network using DHCP, Apple TV will automatically detect your network. If you are not connecting using DHCP, then you might need to enter your IP address, subnet mask, router, and DNS addresses manually.
