iPod Nano Hidden tricks

Get to know you iPod Nano better.

Your iPod nano is well equipped with certain features that you might not know about.



Sleep Timer option:

If you are one who often dozes off while listening to good music, you can set a sleep timer on your iPod, so that it gets switched off automatically and saves your iPod battery's charge.  Here's how you set your sleep timer.

  1. From the main menu on your iPod, click Extras -> Clock.


  2. Click Main clock and at the bottom of that menu, you will find Sleep Timer Option.  Click on it.
  3. You can select sleep time anywhere between 15 minutes to 2 hours.




Alarm Clock:

You can also set an alarm time on your iPod.   Here's how you do it:

  1. From the main menu on your iPod, click Extras -> Clock.


  2. Click the Main clock and there you will find Alarm option.  Click on it.
  3. Set the Alarm option to On.
  4. Select Time option and set the alarm time.
  5. Select Sound option.
    • If you choose Beep, you will get a loud sound on the iPod internal speaker.
    • If you choose the playlist, the sound will come out of the head phones or external speaker.

Volume Limit Settings:

If you think that your iPod is not that loud or is very loud, you can change the Volume Limit settings on your iPod.  Here's how you do it:

  1. From the main menu on your iPod, click Settings -> Volume Limit.


  2. You can increase or decrease the volume limit here.

Resetting iPod Nano:

If something goes wrong on your iPod or if it just freezes upon you, then you need to reset your iPod nano and the procedure here is a little different from other iPod models.  Here's how you reset your iPod nano:

  1. First, slide the Hold switch to hold and toggle it back again.


  2. Hold Menu and Center buttons together for almost 6 seconds. You should hold it until apple logo appears on your screen.


  3. You should see something like this:
