Error Message “C00D119A: Cannot play the file” in Windows Media Player 10!

You need to adjust your Internet Security Settings to resolve this issue. Please refer this article for more information.

We receive Error Message for Windows Media Player 10 “C00D119A: Cannot play the file”  for two reasons.
  1. If codec is not installed on your computer.
  2. Windows Media Player does not support the file you are trying to play.
If codec is not installed on your computer:

Windows Media Player automatically downloads and installs required codec as necessary, and uses it to decompress a file before playing any content.

Note: Codec download fails if the Internet Security Settings are too high. You have to adjust your Internet Security Settings to download codecs into your computer.
 
Follow the steps to adjust Internet Security Settings:
  1. Click Start
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Click Control Panel

  4. Click Internet Options in Control Panel

  5. Click Security tab

  6. Select Internet
  7. In the “Security level for this zone” area, click Default Level.

  8. Set Security level to Medium.Click Apply and OK

The Internet Security Settings have been changed and the Codec successfully downloaded.

AU (UNIX) .au and .snd
MP3 .mp3 and .m3u
DVD video .vob
Macromedia Flash .swf
Microsoft Recorded TV Show .dvr-ms


Note: You cannot play a file that is encoded using a codec, which is not supported by Windows Media Player.
