Samsung: The Recovery Utility for the YH-820MC /YH-920GS.

MP3 player displays either “Please connect device to computer and repair firmware” or “Launch Recovery utility and repair firmware”, for all these your device needs to be in HDD mode, not in MTP mode.

Let’s resolve Recovery problem...

To recover your system, Recovery Utility can be used if any one event occurs

  • File search does not work properly in the Menu Library.
           Or
    If you receive any one of the messages on your device.

  • Connect to PC and repair firmware with recovery utility.

  • Connect to PC and rebuild database with recovery utility.

  • If the message "Loading" appears and the device does not operate when you turn on the power. 
Note:To run recovery utility, disable MTP mode temporarily only if you have updated firmware.Set your device in HDD
        mode to run recovery utility.

  To disable MTP Mode temporarily, follow these steps.
  1. Disconnect MP3 Player from PC and confirm that power is off.

  2. Press and hold the fast forward (FF) button on the device while connecting it to   the computer.

  3. Device is in HDD mode till it is connected to computer.

  4. After running the Recovery utility, safely disconnect the device from computer.
   As soon as you disconnect the device from the computer, the device will be returned to MTP mode.

Note:To operate Recover Utility, Napster Software must be installed on your computer.

  Simple steps to use the Recovery Utility:

  1. Connect MP3 to computer.

  2. Select Start > Programs > Samsung YH-820 or Samsung YH-920 on the desktop.

  3. Press Recovery Utility.

  4. Select your Recovery Method.

     To recover your device through Recovery Utility, follow these steps:

  1. Rebuild Library:

    • Select this button to reconstruct the music library.

    • Safely remove the device.

    • Disconnect the USB cable.

    • Go to the next step.

  2. Repair Device:

    • Select this button to check and repair the file system on the device and rebuild  the music library.

    • Safely remove the device.

    • Disconnect the USB cable.

      Stop troubleshooting if you fix the problem or else go to next step.

  3. Format Device:

    • Select this button.

    • You have selected to erase all contents on the device and restore the system files.

    • Permanently deleted all music and other data.

    • Safely remove the device, after the operation is completed.

    • Now disconnect the USB cable.

  4. Upgrade Firmware:

    • Select this button to upgrade new firmware.
