Searching an access point in Nintendo Wii.

Let’s learn how to look for an access point for wireless setup of Nintendo Wii in this article.

Follow the steps below to Search Access Point in Nintendo Wii:

  1. Click the Wii button in the lower left corner of the main menu of Wii Console.
  2. On the settings screen which appears, Click 'Wii Settings'.
  3. In 'Wii System Settings', click blue arrow on the right to get the second screen of options. Here, Click 'Internet' button.
  4. Select 'Connection Settings'.
  5. Select an open connection, indicated  'None'.
  6. Select 'Wireless Connection'.
  7. Click  'Search for an Access Point'.
  8. Now, the Wii console searchs for any identifiable Access Points nearby. Then you will be directed to choose the Access Point that you wish to connect to,  Click 'OK' to get the list of available Access Points.
  9. Select your Access Point from the list of available Access Points
    Note: If your Access Point in not displayed,(Can't Detect Router's Signal (SSID)) then it means that you are searching for an Access Point where you have your Broadcasting set to "No" or "Disable”. This can be known as “ Stealth “ mode in some routers. You can change this broadcast setting to “Yes” or “Enable” or manually you can enter the SSID in the manual setup screen of your Wii console.
     
    If the connection is padlocked , as shown below on the connections labled as 'Internet 3' and Internet 4', then the Access Point requires a security code or passphrase. You can get the security code or passphrase on the security tab of your wireless router settings.
     
    If your connection signal appears to be yellow or red, it means that the stability or strength of the connection is not optimal. For this , remove any obstacles between the Wii console and the Access Point. And you can change the channel on your router to channel 1 or channel 11 will help with signal stability and strength.
  10. Click Save > OK to save your connection settings.
  11. Select OK ,to start an automatic connection test.
If the test succeeds, Internet Setup is complete and your Wii console is wirelessly connected.
