Installing the Wii LAN Adapter.

Let’s learn how to install the Wii LAN Adapter in this article.

Things to remember while connecting Wii LAN Adapter.

  • Connect your ethernet cable directly from your broadband modem or wired router. If you are using modem, unplug the cable temporarily to the computer while connecting Wii console online.
  • With power turned off, insert the Wii LAN Adapter into the USB port on the back of the Wii console.
  • Connect an ethernet cord from your wired modem or broadband router to the ethernet port on the Wii LAN Adapter.
  • Now, turn on the Wii console and follow the steps below to configure the internet connection settings.

Note: Remember that Wii LAN Adapter cannot be connected directly to a computer in most cases.

  • Configuring the Internet Connection for the Wii LAN Adapter:

    • Go to Wii console's main menu > click Wii button.

    • Click Wii Settings on the Settings screen that is displayed.

    • In the Wii System Settings window that appears, click the blue arrow on the right to go to the second screen of options.

    • In  Wii System Settings 2, click Internet.

    • Select Connection Settings.

    • Select an empty connection slot indicated by None.

    • Select Wired Connection.

    • Click OK on the next screen. At this point your console will attempt to make a connection with your wired router.

Does anyone know if Hughesnet (direcway satellite) blocks the update entirely, presumably with an sspi firewall? I know there are latency issues - could they be the problem? I simply can not get the update to work over hughesnet, even with a direct connection (LAN adapter). I doesn't surprise me since hughesnet sucks in every other way (VPN, VOIP, etc.) so why should this be any different. Has anyone gotten this to work via sat?
