Connecting the Wii console online.

Let’s learn how to connect the Wii console online with a wired connection using a LAN Adapter, besides knowing how to setup the wireless router with Wii console.


 
You need the Wii LAN Adapter to connect the Wii console and wired access point. On wired access point, Wii LAN Adapter enables a connection from an ethernet port to one of the USB ports located at the back side of the Wii console.

Note: Non-Nintendo manufactured devices may not work properly with the Wii console.

  • Requirements for connecting Wii console online.

       The following are needed to connect the Wii console online with a wired connection:

    • Wii LAN Adapter.

    • Active broadband internet connection such as DSL or Cable.

    • Compatible Internet Service Provider (ISP).

    • Either broadband modem or wired router with an ethernet port.

    • Ethernet cable.

  • Purchasing a Wii LAN Adapter.

    • You can order Wii LAN Adapter online from Nintendo's Online Store by using Visa or MasterCard or print out a mail-in form and send in a check or money order. This facility is available only for U.S and Canada users.

    • You can also call Nintendo's Consumer Service Department at 1-800-255-3700.

  • Troubleshooting the Wii LAN Adapter.

    • Make sure that you are using Wii LAN Adapter manufactured by Nintendo which is in gray colour with Nintendo logo molded into the plastic with model number RVL 015. Remember! other than Nintendo Wii LAN Adapter will not work on Wii console.

    • Click here if you are receiving an error code.

    • Slower internet connection such as dial-up may not work properly with the Wii console. Make sure that you must have high speed internet connection or braodband connection like high speed cable or DSL.

    • Sometimes it may be happen that you must have to login with user name and password to play online for the first time after restarting your PC. Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is not compatible with the Wii console then contact your service provider.

    • In firewall settings, your access point (wired router, broadband modem) that prevents from successful connection.
