Xbox 360: Error message "This original Xbox game has encountered a problem and cannot continue".

You may experience the above error message while playing an original Xbox game on an Xbox console and runtime error occurs -- like disc is dirty, smudged, scratched or damaged.

Follow these simple steps to overcome the above error message.
  1. Verify that the Xbox game is on the accepted backward compatibility list. Check the below link for confirmation:

  2. Scrutinize the disc for physical defects like smudges, or scratches.

  3. Properly clean the disc and try again. For cleaning the Xbox game disc properly try this steps.
    • Always hold the disc through edges without touching the surface.

    • Lightly wipe the disc from the center outward by using a soft, clean cloth.

    • Do not use solvent or chemicals to clean the disc.

  4. Try to play the game in the original Xbox console only.
