How to upgrade Ubuntu from Edgy Eft(6.10) to Feisty Fawn(7.04)

To upgrade Ubuntu from Edgy Eft(6.10) to Feisty Fawn(7.04), just follow the advice in this article.

Upgrading Ubuntu from Edgy Eft(6.10) to Feisty Fawn(7.04) is easy.

Just follow these simple steps.
  1. Go to System > Administration > Update Manager
      

      2. A screen with available updates is shown as below. Click on Install updates.


      

        Any software updates on existing system are done as shown below.


      

      Software package updates are done now as shown. Click on Close.


     

      3. Now go to    System > Administration > Update Manager

     

      4. Click on Upgrade to update Ubuntu from Edgy Eft to Feisty Fawn.

     

      5. Release Notes screen shows up as shown below. Click on Upgrade.


     

      It will download the upgrade tool from internet as shown.


     

      Under Preparing to upgrade, it will perform the menu options in the upgrade menu one-by-one .

     

     

    6. When done, it will ask if you want to start the upgrade... Click on Start Upgrade


    

     Be patient...it takes some time..


     

     7. Click Forward if it asks for any services to be re-started.


     

     Cleaning up process is in progress...


    

     8. Finally, Restart the system to complete the upgrade. Click on Restart Now


    

          Now go to Applications > Accessories > Terminal

     9. Enter the following command cat /etc/issue at the command prompt as shown.

    
   

     That's it! You have successfully upgraded your system from Edgy Eft to Feisty Fawn.
