Error Message 1311 or 1335 in HP All-in-one Products and HP Photo smart Printers during installation.

You may come across this issue while installing the HP photo and Imaging Software.

The following error messages will be shown.

  • "Error 1311 Source file is not found [CD-ROM drive letter]:/Setup/data.cab - verify that the file exists and is not read/write protected."

  • "Error 1335 : Cannot copy cab file [filename]".
Note: A dirty software CD might cause such an error message. Ensure that the CD is free from fingerprints. If the CD is dirty, clean it with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol or CD/DVD disk cleaning solution and then try to install the software again.

Follow any one of these solutions to resolve the problem:

Solution 2 :

If the problem persists, copy the software from the software CD-ROM to the computer hard drive. Run installation from the setup file on the hard drive.

This will temporarily require twice the normal amount of disk space to install the software. Follow the steps below to correct the problem:

  1. Click Cancel to exit from the software installation.
  2. Double-click My Computer icon.
  3. Right-click the CD-ROM drive, click Open.
  4. Click  Edit >  Select All
  5. Click  Edit > Copy.
  6. Close all open windows.
  7. Right-click on the Windows Desktop, click New > Folder.
  8. Type in a name of your choice for the folder
  9. Double-click the new folder to open.
  10. Right-click inside the new folder, click Paste. This will copy the contents of the All-in-One or Photosmart CD-ROM.
  11. Open the copied folder and then double-click the file Setup.exe to begin the installation. Now the software should install without the error.
  12. After the installation is complete and you have verified that the printer is operating correctly, delete the folder created to get back the space on the hard drive.
