Error Message in HP during Installation : “ Resolving Error 1304 or Internal Error 2359”.
You may across this issue when there are too many files in the INF directory. Delete all the files that are 0 KB in size, restart the system and reinstall the scanning software.
This Error Message occurs when installing the all-in-one software.The installations stops before completion and you may get one of the following Error Message.
Follow the steps below to correct the problem:
Step 1 : Make the .inf folder visible and sort contents.
Steps for Windows 98 and Me,
To resolve this issue, first make the .inf folder visible and sort contents and delete all files that are 0 KB in size.
- Error 1304 : Error writing to file C:\window\inf\HPxxxxx.inf
- Internal Error 2359 : Here the only option is to click OK.
The following message may also appear:"The installer was interrupted and the system was not modified" or "cannot write *.inf, access is denied, make sure you have the rights to write to this file/directory."
Follow the steps below to correct the problem:

Steps for Windows 98 and Me,
- To open Windows Explorer right-click Start > Explore.
- On the Windows Explorer menu bar, click Tools > Folder Options.
- Select View > Show hidden files and folders > OK.
- In the left pane of the Explorer window, click (+) next to Windows folder.
- Locate and click the inf folder to open it in the right pane.
- On Windows Explorer menu bar, click View > Details.
- On the category headings bar, click Size to arrange the files from the smallest to the largest.
Steps for Windows 2000 and XP .
Step 2 : Delete all files that are 0 KB in size.
- To open Windows Explorer, right-click Start > Explore All Users.
- On the Windows Explorer menu bar, click Tools > Folder Options > View > Show hidden files and folders > OK.
- In the left pane of the Explorer window, click (+) next to the Windows or WinNT folder.
- Select the inf folder and click to open it in the right pane.
- On the Windows Explorer menu bar, click View > Details.
- On the category headings bar, click Size to arrange the files from the smallest to the largest.
- On the right pane of the Explorer window,select all the files that are 0 KB in size.
- Press Delete, and confirm the file deletion.
Note: While deleting if you make a mistake and accidentally deleted the wrong files, then you restore them by clicking Edit > Undo Delete.- Close all the open windows and Restart the computer.
- Restart the all-in-one software installation.
Note: If you get any message displaying that the software is already installed or an option to remove the software, click Remove > Next.
Go through the instructions to uninstall the software. Restart the computer, reinstall the software following the on screen directions.
