Exclamation point next to a folder icon on my iPod
Lets’ discuss what to do if you happen to get a folder icon with exclamation point on your iPod screen.
If iPod displays an exclamation point on the screen it’s definitely not exciting news! So here’s how you can get rid of it:
First of all connect the iPod to your computer. There can be two scenarios.
- If you get any alert, which suggests that your iPod needs to be repaired or reformatted, you can click OK and restore the iPod.
- If the alert message does not appear when connecting the iPod to your computer, then try the steps given below:
Charge: The battery might be low. You can charge the battery by connecting the iPod to your computer using the cable that came with your iPod, or by connecting to an Apple iPod Power Adapter.
Restore: Some iPod models require a specific version of iPod software. It might happen that the iPod has been partitioned or reformatted using an incompatible format. Restore the iPod using the latest version of the iPod Updater application. OK now here's a trick, if the iPod Updater doesn't recognize the iPod, try forcing the iPod into disk mode and then 'restore' again.
Note: If none of the above steps work, its high time you consult a technician.
