Convert DVD movies to view on my Video iPod

Using the iTunes software, you can convert video files to play on the Video iPod. Read on to learn.......

iTunes will do a lot of the work for you so it should be pretty easy.

First off, drag the video file into the iTunes main window.  This will add it to the iTunes library (but not necessarily the iPod).

Now drag the video from the iTunes movie library to the iPod in the Source list (assuming the iPod is already connected).

Videos that are already playable by the iPod will transfer.  Videos that the iPod can't play will cause iTunes to give the message saying that they can't be played on the iPod. Here's what to do:

  • Select one the video files in iTunes.
  • Go to Advanced and select "Convert Selection for iPod".
The conversion process takes a pretty long time.  A two minute video can take 5 to 10 minutes to convert.  It all depends on what kind of computer you have, what type of file the original video is in, and how long the video is.  So this might be a good time to take up some light chores around the house or finally give your mother a phone call (are there, like what, 5 unreturned messages from her on your machine?)
