Problem Charging iPod Mini

After a total charge, iPod still doesn't work or it says out of charge... Whew! You need to resolve this issue. Read on....it is quite simple.

First, you need to determine where the problem is.   Here's a check list that will help you in solving your problem.

Do a little test to check your battery performance.  To increase the battery life, click here for instructions.

Important:
  • The iPod battery indicator might be deceptive.  It just shows how much approximate charge left over on your iPod battery.
  • In some cases iPod might show that there is some charge but might stop working as the battery is dry.
  • Some iPods might indicate a very little charge but might work for some more time.

You might have charged the battery fully but the indicator might not show a full charge.  This doesn't mean that your iPod battery has some problem.

To test your iPod battery, do the following:

  1. Download the latest iPod software from here and install it.
  2. Update your iPod.
  3. Fully charge your iPod by plugging to into a power adapter or to your computer.
  4. Connect to iTunes and copy a list of songs onto your iPod.
  5. Eject your iPod from iTunes.
  6. On your iPod, change these settings:
  7. Navigate to Settings -> Repeat.  select this options until it says All.
  8. Now, navigate to Settings -> Backlight Timer.  Turn Off the backlight.
  9. Choose Settings -> EQ, turn it Off.
  10. Now, select the songs you copied onto your iPod and press Play.  As we set the songs to repeat, it should play over and over again.
  11. Play the songs until the battery completely drains out.   Make a note of start time and the end time when your iPod battery completely drains out.

According to Apple, iPod mini should play continuously for 8 hrs.   Ideally it should play atleast for 5 to 6 hrs till the battery gets drained out.
