Power Adapter and Wall Plug display on the iPod screen

What should I do when I see this icon? There's lots you can do to resolve this issue. Read on and learn....

This icon is usually displayed during an update or restore process.  Obviously, the iPod needs to be plugged into a wall charger in order to finish the process.

"But Apple stopped including a wall charger with the iPod a long, long time ago," I hear you cry.  Yeah, it seems pretty stupid to leave this in the process when most people can't do it.  If you don't have a wall charger, you can:

  • Ask to borrow somebody else's wall charger.
  • Go to an Apple store and charge it, although not everyone lives near one.
  • Buy a wall charger
I really, really recommend this last one and not just for when you get this screen.  The wall charger is a better way to keep your iPod charged, as opposed to:
      • connecting to a computer
      • making sure the computer doesn't go into sleep mode
      • making sure somebody doesn't improperly disconnect the iPod
      • making sure a score of other bad things, that I can't think of, don't happen
The charger is about $30 bucks and well worth it for the less-hassles factor.  Oh yeah, and then you can follow the instruction when you get the wall charger icons.
