Error message: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Ah!! you need to do a restore...! :(
If you see this error message, you need to restore your iPod.
Click on the links below for the steps to restore your iPod.
If you get the same error message again after restoring your iPod, then you need to reassign/Change the drive letter of your iPod.

If you find that your ipod has the white screen, and telling you not to disconnect...
IGNORE IT. Disconnect it, and do NOT restore your ipod! Simply hold the Menu and Middle Button Simultaneously. Please hold it for 5 or more seconds until it goes black and restarts itself, then if you like, download a different version of itunes or as another user listed, change the letter drive assigned to your ipod.
