Why do I get a mail bounce back, 521 error message when I try emailing to comcast.net address?

These could be the reasons for Comcast blocking your email to Comcast network.

  • Comcast might have determined that your mail server is not properly identifying itself when attempting to connect to the Comcast mail servers.

This process is known as Reverse DNS. Reverse DNS associates your mail server's IP address into a domain name for Comcast to know who is attempting to send email. Spammers commonly hide their Reverse DNS to avoid being detected when sending email.

How do I get this resolved?

  • As soon as your mail administrator properly configures Reverse DNS on your mail server, you will be able to email the Comcast network again.
  • Contact your email administrator for outbound spam problem in order to avoid blocking of your email by Comcast in future. It is always better that you include the error message when contacting your email administrator, which helps your email administrator resolve this issue easily.
