How to use an .avi or a .mov file in Comcast video mail?

Although neither .avi or .mov files are supported by Video mail, you can convert both file types to a .wmv format.

To convert .mov to .wmv, it first needs to be converted into .avi and then to .wmv.

Converting .MOV to .WMV:

• This is a two-step process.
  
• • Convert .mov to .avi
  • Convert .avi to .wmv

Step1: Converting .mov to .avi

• Go to the URL: http://www.radgametools.com/
  

  Press on "Bink" in the left menu.

  

• Click on "download" link for RAD Video Tool.
  
  
  

• Click on the link "RAD Video Tools" and download the application.
  
  

• Install the application.

• Open the application and browse to the file you want to convert. Click on Convert a File button. Choose .avi file for video file.

  
  
  
• Press Convert.
  
• This completes the process of converting .mov to .avi format.
  

Step2:

• Converting .avi to .wmv:

  go to the url http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5691ba02-e496-465a-bba9-b2f1182cdf24&DisplayLang=en
  
• Install the application.

• Open the application and press New Session.

• Click Convert a File.
  
• Click the Browse button to browse to a Source File
  
• Media Encoder will fill in the Output file with the new .wmv extension.
  
• Press Next. Choose File to download.
  
• Click Next.
  
• Choose Video and Audio Quality.
  
• Press Finish.
  
• After a few moments, the Encoder Results dialog will appear.
  
• Click Close. You do not have to save the session.
  
• The file is now in the output location previously listed.
  
• You can now record a Video Mail and add your new .wmv file to your Video Mail.
  

This completes the process of converting .avi file to .wmv format.
