Error Message "Codecs missing" or "Failed to create file"on my Motorola Razr V3M Verizon
Troubleshooting error message "Codecs missing" on your Motorola Razr V3M.

We recommend running all Windows, Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center updates on your computer. A codec stands for compressor/decompressor. It is a Windows component used to translate video or audio between its uncompressed form and the compressed form in which it is stored. Motorola Phone Tools is dependent upon you having the required codecs installed on your computer.
In order to view which codecs are installed:
- Launch Windows Media Player.
- On the Help menu, click "About Windows Media Player".
- From the "About Windows Media Player" dialog box, click Technical Support Information to view which codecs are installed.
Note: If the codec is not available at the web location, customer may need to purchase the special codec.
