It will protect your home network and keeps a check on hacker intrusion.

Installation technician should enable your WEP during the initial set-up of Comcast Gateway.

A strength of 128-bit (high security) WEP protection is recommended by Comcast.

However, there is a provision to change the level of WEP protection through Customer Interface.

You can change the level or completely disable it depending upon the signal strength and link quality.

But the basic level is 64-bit WEP.

It is recommended for enhanced security, but not necessary for Gateway operation.
