Setting up your Personal E-mail Account on Motorola Razr V3M Verizon Phone

You can send and receive e-mail messages with any Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) or Post Office Protocol - Version 3 (POP3) e-mail account.




Gather the following information from your POP3/IMAP provider:
  • Account type (POP or IMAP).
  • Incoming Mail server.
  • Outgoing Mail server.
  • Username, password, and domain name.
  • Any special security requirements.
To setup a personal e-mail account:
  1. Press Start.
  2. Scroll to and select Messaging.
  3. Select New E-mail Account....
  4. Select Your e-mail source: as "Other".
  5. Press Next.
  6. Select Your e-mail provider: as "Other (POP/IMAP)".
  7. Press Next.
  8. Enter Your name:.
  9. Scroll down and enter you E-mail address:.
  10.  Press Next. By leaving the Automatic Setup box checked, the phone will attempt to obtain the email settings from the Internet.
  11. If the Automatic Setup was unsuccessful (or the previous box was unchecked), the settings must be entered manually. Press Next.
  12. Enter the account User name: (typically everything before the @ symbol), Password: and Domain: (often not required) and Press Next . Tip: Check the Save password box to eliminate the need to enter your password every time the account is accessed.
  13. Select the Server type: as "POP3" or "IMAP".
  14. Scroll down to change the Account name: if desired.
  15. Scroll down to select the Network: to be used to access the mail server (normally the Internet).
  16. Press Next.
  17. Enter the POP/IMAP server address in the Incoming Server:.
  18. Scroll down to check Require SSL connection, if necessary.
  19. Scroll down to enter the SMTP address in the Outgoing Server:.
  20. Scroll down to select Outgoing server requires authentication, if necessary
  21. Press Next.
  22. Select the message download options: Set how often to download messages and Set how much of the messages to download (i.e. Header only, Entire Message, etc.).
  23. Press Next.
  24. Set how often to automatically check for messages.
  25. Press Next.
  26. Press Finish.
Note: Immediately following the setup wizard, the user is asked to download messages. Select either Yes or No. The newly configured Inbox will then be displayed. If you plan to sync another email account via ActiveSync using a scheduled sync, the POP3/IMAP4 account should not be set to sync on a schedule. If the POP3 account is set to sync on a schedule, it will disrupt the ActiveSync scheduled sync.
