iPhone Fundamentals: Using the Touch screen

Learn how to use the all new iPhone touch screen.

Touch screen:
  1. All you need to do is tap on the icons on the touch screen to open the application.
  2. To go back to the home screen, press the home button below.
  3. You can flick, drag up or down or side to side to scroll through the screen like web pages with your finger.
  4. Dragging and sliding your finger on the touch screen will not select or activate any action on the screen.
  5. Some lists will have a index list on the right side.  Tap a letter to view the items starting with that letter.  Drag using your finger to scroll quickly.
  6. Tap on the item to select it or open it.
  7. The back button is located on the top left corner, tap it to go back the previous screen.
  8. When viewing images, photos, maps etc., you can double tap to zoom into the image and to zoom out, just double tap once again Or just pinch to zoom in and out.
 
Entering Text Messages:

iPhone is equipped with an onscreen keyboard to enter text messages, contact information, notes etc.,  The keyboard is integrated with dictionary that automatically suggests corrections for wrongly or mistyped words.

  1. When you bring up messaging screen, the keyboard automatically gets popped up on the screen.
  2. As you tap the letters on the screen, each letter appears above your finger.  The suggested words are displayed just above or below the word you type.
  3. To edit the entered text, just touch and hold the screen, you should see a magnified view of the entered text, navigate and place the cursor to the position where you want to make the change.
