If it's the video experience you're after, the LG VX9400 is the better of the two original V Cast Mobile TV phones. But if making calls is just as important, then you may find the LG VX9400 a bit tedious to use.

The VX9400 is the best phone for watching Verizon's mobile TV service so far. But it might get on your nerves, because making phone calls requires an extra flip.

Cingular power users, your mobile office has arrived. The first smart device to use Cingular's new HSDPA high-speed network, the new Cingular 8525 handheld is an unparalleled global roaming phone, and equally valuable standing alone or acting as a modem for your laptop. If checking e-mail or surfing the Web is sluggish on your aging cell phone, the Cingular 8525--the first PDA phone that's compatible with Cingular's fledgling high-speed HSDPA network--might be the answer to your prayers. For the most part, the 8525 delivers the broadband data speeds you'd expect. But poor battery life is an Achilles' heel for this otherwise capable handheld.

The K750i is a great mix of good hardware and software features. It's small in size, sleek in design and has some of the best features we've seen in a handset. The standout is the camera, which is both easy to use and well specified. We could see ourselves getting standard prints from this phone -– something we've never wanted to try before

Cingular's high-speed network goes truly portable with the new Samsung BlackJack, an excellent little handheld for folks looking for a Blackberry-style device with more speed and multimedia features.

Thin is clearly in at Samsung. The company's new BlackJack i607 from Cingular is the spitting image of Verizon's Motorola Q, also black, and one of the thinnest phones you can buy. Though the two PDA phones look alike, the BlackJack features a lighter, narrower design and more-robust multimedia capabilities (such as streaming music and video).

While this isn't the most advanced handset out there, it has a strong casing, a decent all-round feature set and an elegant, straightforward design. This is Nokia at its best

It was only about 18 months, but it seemed as if it had been on the market for an eternity. The MDA was an okay handset, but a slow processor and poor voice reception limited its appeal. The new T-Mobile Wing, the MDA's replacement, packs in many notable improvements, including a 2-megapixel camera, a brighter screen, better voice quality, Windows Mobile 6, and a classier overall design. Unfortunately, T-Mobile left the slow CPU intact, making this otherwise powerful handset feel sluggish and sticky to use

For $300, the T-Mobile Wing is a reasonable value, given the phone's versatile functionality, stellar call quality, and excellent battery life. My greatest concerns about the phone involve its limited on-board storage and its poorly constructed buttons; longer term, Ia??d worry about the integrity of that slider mechanism. But those concerns aside, the Wing makes a great package, especially if you value the easy input that a touch screen affords, together with the computing flexibility of Windows Mobile.
