Account Settings - iPhone Mail

Lets see how to set the account settings on your iPhone








If you are configuring your iPhone for exchange email account, you should configure it to IMAP to work.

To stop using an account on iPhone:

  1. From the Home screen, tap on Settings > Mail.
  2. Choose an account.
  3. Select turn Account off.

If it is turned off,  you will not be able to get or send any emails to that account.  iPhone stops send and receiving messages to that account until it is turned on.

To adjust advanced settings:

From the Home screen, tap on Settings > Mail > Accounts
  1. Tap on your account and you can do one of the things below:
    • To check whether the drafts, sent messages, and deleted messages are stored on your iPhone or on your email server (IMAP accounts only),
    • Tap Advanced and select Drafts Mailbox, Sent Mailbox, or Deleted Mailbox.
    • If you have stored messages on your iPhone, you can also view them when iPhone is disconnected from the internet.
  2. To set permanent delete schedule for messages that exists on delete messages folder,
    • Tap Advanced > Remove, then select a time:
      • Never
      • After one day
      • One week
      • One month
  3. To adjust email server settings,
    • Tap Host Name, User Name, or Password under Incoming Mail Server or Outgoing Mail Server.
    • Ask your network administrator or Internet service provider for the correct settings.
  4. To adjust SSL and password settings,
    • Tap Advanced.
    • Ask your network administrator or Internet service provider for the correct settings.

To delete an email account from your iPhone:

  1. From the Home screen, tap on Settings > Mail.
  2. Tap on the account when needs to be deleted.
  3. Scroll down and select Delete Account.

Note: Removing an account from iPhone doesn't mean that you have deleted it permanently from your computer too.
