Samsung SGH-E880: MMS feature.

Through the MMS (Multimedia Message) service you can send Multimedia Data like Polyphonic ring tones, songs, wallpapers, images etc. from one mobile to another via GPRS Signals.

Some networks allow MMS facility on GPRS Activation, while some offer extra signal for MMS. So, if you have GPRS activated on your mobile, you don’t need any special settings for MMS. This facility varies from one Service Provider to another.

To get the MMS Activated, contact your Service Provider. Your Service Provider will activate your MMS connection. You will either receive the settings through “Service Message” which you have to “Accept” or you have to enter the settings Manually.

Follow these steps for Manual Settings:

Changing MMS Settings:
You can customize the settings for sending and receiving MMS messages.
  1. From the Multimedia messages,Go to Menu and Click on Settings.
  2. Select a setting category and alter the settings.
 
Send Settings :
  • Priority: Sets the priority level of your messages.
  • Validity Period: Sets the time frame your messages are cached in the message center.
  • Delivery After: Sets the time delay period before messages are sent.
  • Address Hiding: Conceals your phone number on the recipient's phone.
  • Delivery Report: Sets the network to notify you when your message is delivered.
  • Read Reply: Here you can request a reply from the recipient.
 
Receive Settings:
 
  • Home Reception: Helps to define if your phone accepts new messages automatically when you are in your home service area.
  • Roaming Reception: Determines if your phone accepts new messages automatically when you are roaming in another network. Home Reception and Roaming Reception have the following options:
    • Automatic: The phone automatically acquire messages from the server.
    • Reject: Here the phone rejects all messages.
    • Manual: In this option, the phone displays notifications. Use the Retrieve option to manually download new messages.
  • Anonymous Reject: Rejects messages from anonymous senders.
  • Adverts Reject: Spurns advertisements.
  • Report Allowed: Sends a delivery report from the network to the sender.
MMS Profiles:
 
You can configure the required network settings for MMS. The last profile used is automatically activated for Sending or Receiving the ensuing messages.
  • Current Profile: Selects a profile.
  • Profile Settings: Personalizes the following options for each profile:
    • Profile Name: Allots a name to the MMS profile.
    • Server URL: Enter the address of your MMS server.
    • Proxy: Connect to the GPRS network using the proxy server.
    • GPRS Settings: Personalizes the settings required for connecting to the GPRS network.
      Note : Set the proxy Enabled.
      1. IP address: Enter the gateway address.
      2. Port: Enter the port number.
      3. DNS1: Enter the primary address.
      4. DNS2: Enter the secondary address.
      5. APN: Enter the access point name used for the address of the GPRS network.
      6. Login ID: Enter the user ID.
      7. Password: Enter the password.
    • Version: Select an available OMA version and maximum size limit for sending or receiving messages.
Note: Consult your service provider before you make any changes in the   MMS settings on your device.
