Sony Ericsson W550i: Transfer Files Using Bluetooth Wireless Technology

You can transfer files from your Sony Ericsson W550i using Bluetooth wireless technology. Know how?

Bluetooth
makes it possible to connect wirelessly to other Bluetooth devices. With this technology you can:
  • connect to several devices at the same time.
  • synchronize information with other devices.
  • use the remote control functionality.
  • use a remote screen.
  • exchange items and play multiplayer games.


We recommend a range within 10 meters, with no solid objects in between, for safe Bluetooth Communication.

Turn ON Bluetooth to communicate with other devices before transfering files. Pair the Bluetooth devices with your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile that you want to communicate with.

Please check if local laws or regulations restrict the use of Bluetooth. If Bluetooth is not allowed, you must ensure that the Bluetooth function is turned off. The maximum allowed Bluetooth radio output power in the phone is automatically adjusted according to possible local restrictions. This means that the range may vary.

Follow the steps below to Turn Bluetooth ON:
  • Go to Settings.
  • Click the Connectivity tab.
  • Click Bluetooth.
  • Turn Bluetooth ON.
You need to enter a passcode to set up a secure link between your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile and the device. Enter the same passcode on the device when prompted. Devices with no user interface, such as a handsfree, will have a pre-defined passcode. You may Consult the device user guide for more information.

Note:
Make sure that the device you want to add has Bluetooth activated and visible.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Click the Connectivity tab.
  • Click Bluetooth.
  • Click My Devices.
  • Click New Device to search for available devices.
  • Select a device from the list.
  • If required, enter a passcode.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Click the Connectivity tab.
  • Click Bluetooth.
  • Click My Devices and select a device from the list.
  • Click More to view a list of options.
You need to Turn ON to reduce power consumption by optimizing your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile for use with several Bluetooth devices at the same time.

Follow the steps below to Save Power:
  • Go to Settings.
  • Click the Connectivity tab.
  • Click Bluetooth.
  • Click Powersave.
  • Turn it to ON.
You need to enter a name for your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile to be shown to other devices when found.

Follow the steps below to Enter a Phone Name:
  • Go to Settings.
  • Click the Connectivity tab.

  • Click More.
  • Click Send contact.
  • Select via Bluetooth.
  • Select the device to send the item.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Click the Connectivity tab.
  • Click Bluetooth.
  • Turn it to ON.
  • Make sure the phone is Visible.
  • When you receive an item, follow the instructions that appear.
Follow the steps below to Add Bluetooth Handsfree.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Click the Connectivity tab.
  • Click Bluetooth.
  • Click Handsfree.
  • Click Yes if you are adding a Bluetooth handsfree for the first time.
    or else
  • Go to My handsfree.
  • Click New handsfree.
  • Click Add if you are adding another Bluetooth handsfree.
  • Ensure that your handsfree is in pairing mode. You can consult device user guide for more information.
You can transfer the sound for calls when using a Bluetooth handsfree. You can also transfer the sound for calls using the keypad.

Follow the steps below to transfer sound when using a handsfree.
  • Click More during a call.
  • Click Transfer sound and select a device.
You can direct sound when answering a call with the phone keypad or the handsfree button.

Follow the steps below to Direct Sound when answering a call with a handsfree:
  • Go to Settings.
  • Click the Connectivity tab.
  • Click Bluetooth.
  • Click Handsfree.
  • Click Incoming call.
  • To direct to the phone click In phone.
  • To direct to the handsfree click In handsfree.
