Transferring Files from your Sony Ericsson W550i Using the USB Cable

Your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile comes with a USB Cable and when you connect your phone to a computer using the USB Cable, the phone memory will appear as a drive on the computer. Use the USB Cable that is included with your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile and connect it directly to your computer.

You can use your computer drag and drop functionality to transfer files between your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile and computer. You can move and organize files and also you can delete files from your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile.


Note: All your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile functions, except for alarms and alerts, will be Turned OFF during the USB Connection.

Follow the steps below to Start a USB Connection with the Sony Ericsson W550i mobile Turned 'ON':
  • Connect the USB Cable to your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile and to your computer.
  • Click Settings.
  • Click the Connectivity tab.
  • Click USB Connection.
  • Select Yes.
To Start a USB Connection with the Sony Ericsson W550i mobile Turned OFF, you need to connect the USB Cable to your phone and to your computer. Do not remove the USB Cable during the file transfer since it may damage your Sony Ericsson W550i phone memory.

Follow the steps below to End a USB Connection:
  • Exit the USB Connection on your computer.
  • Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the taskbar for Windows OS, and follow the instructions.
  • Remove the USB Cable from your Sony Ericsson W550i mobile.
