Error: 'No ipod connected' when I click on iPod under Preferences.
This could happen for several different reasons, but here is some advice.
First off, check that cable are properly connected (the first step for fixing any computer problem) to both the iPod and the computer.
Then try a different USB port. It could be that the port is bad or got fried and that why the iPod isn't recognized.
No luck? Detach the iPod and restart your computer. The iTunes software or the OS maybe be caught in a loop and this will reset all the programs.
If you visit the Apple Support site, you will see that for almost any problem they recommend the 5Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore. After each of these steps (retry and restart are mentioned above), check to see if the problem is fixed. Be very careful about the last two steps:
Reinstall
This may not be possible if iTunes still does not see your iPod.
Restore
Warning! This will totally erase everything on the iPod. If you have files on you iPod that are not backed up on your computer, they will be lost.
If the problem persists, you may want to post the details of your problem (which model iPod, which OS, computer's age and model) in the Ask a Guru section of Zolved. It may be that it is a common problem and someone there knows the exact way to fix it.
