Is there a way to set up my DLink Router with Insight as my ISP?

There is a step by step method in this article which will help to do so smoothly.

You may need to go to https://sas.r31.insightbb.com and follow the on-screen instructions to register the MAC address of your new connection with Insight communications.

If you were using a USB Connection before using a router, follow these steps

1. Switch off the modem
2. Disconnect the USB cable
3. Connect an Ethernet cable onto the WAN port of the router.
4. Switch on the modem

If you were using a Cable modem before using a router

Configure the router with your computer that was connected to your modem.   You can only use the Ethernet port on your modem.

Note: In some cases, you might need to talk to your Internet service provider to change the connection types such as USB to Ethernet etc.,

Follow these simple steps to setup your connection..

Enter the IP address of the router (Default 192.168.0.1) on a web browser & enter the username(admin)/password(blank by default)

  • Click Home then click WAN on the left side
  • Click the radio button beside Dynamic IP Address
  • Do not enter anything in the Host Name
  • Both primary and secondary DNS should be 0.0.0.0.
  • Check Enable box beside Renew IP Forever
  • Click CLONE MAC
  • Click Apply
  • Click Restart

The router will automatically reboot after 15-20 seconds.

After the process completes, close the browser and reopen it.  You should be able to access the internet.  If you are not, then turn off your modem and router and restart them after sometime.  You should be able to get connected.
