Problem setting up 2 PC's running Win98 with Netgear RP614
The article troubleshoots your problems setting up your router on two computers
Symptom
The PC with RP614 router setup which is running on Win98 connects and works fine, but the second computer isn't even detected by the router. When connected the internet with the computer works fine but once connected to the router, it does not work. IP is set automatically but does not recieve the correct one
Solution
1. Check whether the connected cable is defective/incorrectly wired (split pair cable).
2. You need to set the computer to obtain IP address and DNS automatically.

3. Try a different port on the router then try a different cable
4. Try setting the IP address to 192.168.0.254 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1 DNS 192.168.0.1.
5. Cable
Router port (which I think you already swapped)
Network card drivers (download and install the latest drivers or if they are current uninstall and reinstall them).
6. Network Card
You may also want to try this network boot floppy from www.netbootdisk.com to eliminate software/ driver issues (you can also make it a bootable CD).
7. ISP provider might have given permissions for the internet to work on a single computer.
8. Check the Megabit port to sync with the speeds that which you have. If the modem has a 10 megabit port it can work with the modem and fail when trying to go to the router at 100 megabit
Try the above options and that should take care of your problem.
