How can I get the best possible signal strength from my wireless router to my XBOX 360
To boost your signal strength any good router that is compatible with Xbox 360 will do.
Router model 802.11a works on 5 GHz. and 802.11b works on 2.4 GHz. They typically require different equipment, although there are some cards that will support both frequencies. 802.11g will fall back from 50 MHz all the way to 1 MHz depending on signal strength and noise. The presence of a single 802.11b device on an otherwise 802.11g network can significantly slow down a network. Also, nearby networks can interfere. A directional antenna, as suggested by the previous poster, can boost your signal significantly. Also, check that the antenna on your Xbox is pointed the same way as the antenna on your router. If one is pointed up and the other is horizontal, you can lose as much as 3 dB -- 1/2 your signal!
