Can I use Xbox when a modem is connected to the only ethernet slot on the router?

Well! The ethernet cable from your modem plugs into the WAN (wide ares network) port of a router. Most routers have multiple LAN (local area network) ports to which they can 'route' network traffic. You should connect both your computer and your XBox into these ports. Again, depending on your Intenet Service Provider, setting up your router may take some additional steps such as cloning the MAC address of your computer or changing some other settings. Changing those settings will depend on the router you are using.
